C64GS

G'day! Quite a lot of money is an understatement! Recently, a bloke was selling a C64GS on Aussie eBay that ended up selling for AUS$430.31! That's some serious dosh for a retro system! I also saw an SX64 (portable C64) go for AUS$510.00! Seeya, mates! PS: I think that I can fit in a few more exclam...

Commodore 16

G'day, everyone! I've been off-line for a few weeks but I'm back with a new Commodore 16! At last, IT IS MINE! Of course, I bought it on eBay and it was still in its original box, came with a 1531 datassette in its original box, a T 1341 joystick in its original box...well, you get the idea, it came...

Commodore 16

Hey, Hawk, there's a C-16 up for auction on Aussie eBay at the moment. It's even in its original box! I haven't bid on it though because it doesn't come with its Datassette or joystick and without these its kinda useless. Anyway, just thought that you might be interested. Oh, and everyone else, I ha...

C-64 Hard Drive.

G'day,
Today on Aussie eBay, someone bought a C-64 hard drive for $500 Buy It Now! I thought the seller was dreaming asking for that much. Boy, was I wrong! Anyone else know of retro items that sold for way more than they imagined?

PAL Systems.

G'day, Just a little constructive criticism on your poll; not everyone uses emulators! I entered the poll as a PAL VIC-20 user who uses NTSC emulation. The problem is that I DON'T use emulation of ANY sort but there was category for that. Call me old fashioned (or a retro wanker!) but I don't use em...

The Encyclopedia of Game Machines.

G'day, This morning there was a loud knock on my door and there to greet me was an Australia Post worker with parcel in hand. My excitement mounting, I tore off the packaging and there before me was one of the finest pieces of literature ever to asail my senses! EVERYONE must buy a copy of the Encyc...

Ferengi

What the bloody hell is "ferengi"? Oh and hawk, it's nice to see more Aussies in this forum. I know of a couple others but we're in short supply. Aussies out there, what's in your collections? Maybe we can trade? And hawk, the next C-16 on eBay is MINE! Heh, heh, heh.

Commodore 64GS

G'day, I don't know if this has been brought up by anyone yet but does anyone know much about the Commodore 64 GS (Games System). It came out in around 1989 (I think) and was basically a C64 console that only played carts and had no keyboard. I've never seen one on Aussie eBay and I don't think that...

Looking after my collection

Back to the case in point, looking after one's collection! I find nowadays that I don't display my collection en masse anymore but only unpack the machines that I'm using at the moment. At the moment it's VIC (of course!), SNES and Gamecube with Game Boy Player. Other than these, I keep them all in ...

Sorry guys, I sometimes forget that I'm talking to an "international" group. "Hows it going" means ordinary or average - not up to par.

Actually, you're right, carlsson, I do have a thing against third party manufacturers. As a collector (here we go!) I like to buy official brand name merchandise (probably why I like Nintendo). Third party stuff, to me, seems a bit hows it going.

Rero Gamer Magazine

G'day, I, too, live in Australia, Tonks, and I HATE the fact that we receive Retro Gamer three months late! The ONLY place that I know who sells it here in Melbourne is a shop in the city called "Mag Nation" (great shop, by the way) and I have to fork out AUS$13.95 for it! It is bloody wor...

G'day, The first handheld system I ever owned was the Sega Gamegear. At the time (around 1992) what sold me over was the backlit, colour display. Gameboys were everywhere but I HATED the monochrome screen. For an 8-bit handheld, the graphics were awesome and for me the choice of handheld was either ...

C-64 PLUG N PLAY

G'day, The C-64 Plug n Play is sold in Target stores in Australia (Melbourne, anyway) for around AUS$30. Pretty neat because it's a lot easier than setting up the whole 64 (if you like the games on offer, that is!). Also, the Namco one with Galaga sold recently on eBay (2nd hand) for nearly AUS$90! ...
