Mayhem just got one on eBay for over $100 USD. Must be a rare cartridge.

The reason this game is listed on Amazon is because it was assigned an ISBN number

I have an original Box for this game and it says it was made by Reston Publishing Inc

For some reason they have registered a Game with a Book ISBN !? Weird

Perhaps they considered it similar to a multimedia published item like an AudioTape

What do you mean with book? Couse I find place that sells that.. and it says Vic20 version.. But they told that it is book.

So book means game manual or ?

I don't know why they gave a Game Release an ISBN as it normally only applies to Books

Encyclopedia: The International Standard Book Number, or ISBN, is a unique identifier for books, intended to be useful commercially.

Are you sure there is an item? Maybe you would only place an order of interest, and if a matching item comes their way within the next five years, they will commence the sale to you. I'm a little sceptical to Amazon networks and similar if they can offer you virtually any book or other item in the world that otherwise is close to impossible to find.

I presume there is no product contact so you can ask what you are buying, but if you try to make the order, you will know if there really is something to buy or not.

Miner 2049er - Graphics

Post by vicassembly »

I picked up one of these cartridges this past week. I am impressed by the smoothness of the color sprites. Are they scrolling 2 pixels or did they find a way to scroll 1 pixel at a time? It seems so smooth.

I took a quick peek in a YouTube video, and the game works in multi-colour resolution, i.e. the resolution is 2 (hires) pixels horizontally.
It seems so smooth.
I suppose that's mainly a matter whether it syncs with the frame rate, and updates the screen at a constant rate itself, even if the update is not at 50/60 Hz but only at one half/third/etc. _constant_ rate. As soon as the update rate varies, one gets a jerky impression.

That being said I saw some flickering in the ghosts, and the shapes don't take the background into account.

We can surely continue the technical discussion in this thread. ;)

Way old thread, but thought I'd post this pic... one of my very favorite games.

The copy I won before got replaced with a CIB version down the line, and the spare got sold on... I forget who it went to.
