what is the best way to load TAP files on a VIC 20?

Are there "modern" easy ways ?
or the easiest is to find a tape recorder?

Yes, that works quite well. Those interfaces come in various flavors, but are basically an audio to C64 / VIC-20 / C128 digital (TTL) signal converter.
I have a similar device from the 80's and connected it to a cell phone.
If you’re devoted enough, you can even put pictures of the tape covers in the mp3's.
The only back draw is that the computer can't stop the tape, which in some cases is necessary.
