crazy ebay NES auction

Post by yoyodyne »

If this was posted already, I apologize:

I suspect someone is messing with him now, it was just $31k just
a few hours ago.

In a related note, if the seller accepts Paypal (for any amount,
not just $230k), how much is he covered if the buyer
disputes the charge?
If you document it, its not a bug, its a feature.

Several hundred NES cartridges in one lot. The bids went up and down all the time. Bids cancelled, removed. Auction restarted. The seller claimed he had been blackmailed by angry NES resellers who didn't like the fact that he sold a whole collection in one lot, and that it would damage the market for NES cartridges for a while.

It is not clear if the seller really intended to sell, or if everything was a ploy with dozens of sock puppets playing havoc with the bids and getting a bit of free publicity. The auction was mentioned in everyday newspapers world-wide and everything.
