Vic 20 Chip Tune Programing Milestone. Enjoy.
Vic 20 Chip Tune Programing Milestone. Enjoy.
The following Chip tune that that I am posting represents a significant mile stone for me. I have been teaching myself how to program with the vic for about 3 to 4 months now. It is my first time programing and learning to program with the vic has been a lot f fun. With this track I have finally learned how t set up dimensioned arrays ( using them to set up the tones and octaves for my music in this case.) wich means that I have now learned all the programing techniques from the vic 20 manual plus some. I have also started writing my music programs placing the measures and phrases in nested loops which I have found can make for much more interesting music. This piece was written in basic for the unexpanded vic.

Thank you and enjoy.

Good stuff, no "cutesy" chiptunes. I particularly enjoy the first 20 seconds which you could extend and possibly speed up a bit. The VIC sounds are suited for a darker 8bit sound.

Nice! Probably the most complex music made in basic that I've heard. This makes me think about how powerful the vic-20 sounds. The C64 often sounds very thin in comparison.

I was blown away that all that could be achieved in BASIC.

Quite cool! Was there any post-processing? The bass is massive and the hihats remind me of some techno records I liked in the 80s.

Very cool. I liked the tuned white noise, it reminded me of old Kraftwerk stuff.

No post production at all. this was recorded with the record audio option in VICE.pixel wrote:Quite cool! Was there any post-processing?

That was amazing! Seems outside of the systems range.

Thank you for all for the wonderful feed back. I am currently working on compiling a d64 image of some of the chip tunes I've been working on. All in basic for the unexpanded vic.
