Because things get so stretched, here's a version with a couple of screens added.

The laser shooting upwards is gone so the other two directions fail you less. I wonder if you like it. If not, fetch http://hugbox.org/pixel/pulse-ul.prg to get it back. Please let me know which version you prefer.
The level data is now stored as a list of reusable blocks with varying offsets. It works much like a one-channel music player that can transpose the blocks.

Losing the upward laser is a good thing in my opinion. The added screens don’t make much of a difference, love to see a 16kb version! The new version seems to glitch more than the previous one (VICE 2.4). This weekend I'll try it on my real Vic.

Finally made some time to play a few more of the newer games. I love this, but I'm not good enough to get very far...

WARNING: The following information may cause your frontal lobes to shut down like mine just did.
Despite it being impossible Pulse now has >206, yessir, two hundred and six, free bytes left!
This means Pulse 1 will get something extra (just don't know what exactly but it's a good way to get back into it) and it's finally a great code base for Pulse 2.
SPOILER: Pulse 2 already has some digisound mixer (not in-game) and a background tape loader (yeah, in-game).

Nice ideas. I got the following list of which some items may sink in:
* new extra: laser that shoots through the enemies
* new extra: kill all enemies on screen
* extra boxes get different colours, depending on the extra they contain (I'd love to see more colours anyway)
* some big boss... there the challenge is…
* sprite animations
* varying terrain graphics
* wider level
