Using VICE xvic
A small question. I get most games, apps and demos to work without any problems...except cartridge images. Some of won't start no matter what i do. All carts from Atarisoft or Broderbund for exemple refuses to load.
File
Attach cartridge image
Add to generic...and then the correct start adress or smart attach cartridge.
Nothing happends and i only get the regular boot screen.
Am i missing something?

Using WinVICE? Then try PRG Starter:

Additional instructions for dual cart images with PRG Starter:
Some cartridge images on Vic-20 are in two parts that goes to different memory addresses. They are normally named something like SpaceMan_6000.prg and SpaceMan_A000.prg. To start these, do like this: Double click the non-A000 part. Then drag and drop the A000 part into the VICE window. Press Alt-R to start.

Re: Cartridge images in VICE
Yeah, regardless of attaching the images, you will likely have to do a soft reset (Alt R) to start the game.

Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Cartridge images in VICE
Now it works.
First i used the cartridge images from the Vic-20 TOSEC.
https://archive.org/details/Commodore_V ... 2012_04_23
Then i tried the cartridge images from Gamebase Vic-20 instead.
Most of them was of Part 1/Part 2 type. Insert Part 1, (no need to reset) VICE will display the Vic-20 boot screen after about 1 sec. Insert part 2 and the game will run.
