Denial Collection 3

Post by orion70 »

carlsson wrote:I think it is about time we compile the Denial Disk. We've had so many good new games and utilities in the last few years that we'll easily fill a disk. Those who lack the possibility to transfer a disk image themselves get to buy one from a co-member, possibly at a little profit that goes to Jeff-20 for hosting the forum. I believe a such disk may also be possible to sell at eBay and so on.

We already had Denial Collection 1 and 2, both consisting of Jeff's own creations which are great. Now this could be a recurring distribution, where games such as VICtoria Gold is virtually impossible to store on a cartridge but fit like hand in glove on a floppy disk. Everything doesn't need to be squeezed onto a cartridge. :-D

Members who have the possibility to create the disk could spread it to people from his Country, to minimize mail expenses. I can do it for Italy.
Contents and the cover should be the same for all, of course.
Jeff-20 wrote:Yes, wonderful idea. We could even have some surprise releases not posted in the forum included (I have a few). I had a Denial 3 planned, but I like this idea better! I say, go!
Following this thread, we propose here a new Denial Collection disk filled with all the games released by Denial members but not included in the Mega-Cart.

Software releases of 2008 include some of them; previously unpublished works by Jeff or others will also be added.

As a first step, I would ask nbla000 if he can compare the titles in the 2008 software thread with the Mega-cart programs list, and tell us which ones are not in the cartridge.

I want to know all of the Denial programs included on the cart. We may decide this is a better place for Denial games if it makes room for unreleased or obscure commercial games.

We may even use a simplified version of the menu system to easier load the games from the floppy disk. I can contribute some fancy menu music if nobody else is up to it.

I'm afraid my contribution will be limited to the cover art. :P

Eeh.. VICtoria Gold gotta use up a fair chunk of disk space. Even if Mike did a lot of fine tuning, it originally still is your game. :)

Still 616 blocks free... But there are also Evil Castle and the VIC conversion of Mille Bornes from C64.

Dunno if they're planned to be in Mega-Cart though. BTW Jeff, I don't think that MC should be without Denial games - after all, it's a Denial product.

My opinion is the MegaCart should contain all known cartridges, a handful of essential tape games and the cream of the crop of recent homebrews, perhaps at most one per developer or one per game type.

How about we try to compile a disk image until Christmas, to give us all a big present (*) for the holidays and the new year?

(*) Oops, I almost wrote president.

I think several members had more than one program on the cart. I requested all but one of mine be removed to make room. Maybe just one game per member.

...and maybe we should vote on which of them if room is an issue. For example, I would argue BlueStar should take priority over my own BASIC Game Theory. Homebrews should be few and significant.

I'm curious to know what kind of efficient menu system could be created. This is a very exciting idea to me!

Put me on the backorder list. I can't say I can help much in adding to the product itself right now, but I would certainly like to buy such a disk.

I think my Disk Menu program is my only program on the mega-cart...(?) You are welcome to use it on the disk too:
http://user.tninet.se/~pug510w/datormuseum/vicmenu.html

You are welcome to have any of my programs on the disk. My first suggestions would be

Tribbles:

and Mega Omega:
http://user.tninet.se/~pug510w/datormus ... html#omega

And Björgs and my two co-operation games (Or what do you think Björg? ) :

Video Poker:

Should the programs be separated by memory requirements? A good menu program is really important here.
