For trade: TRS-80 MC-10 (really cool small computer)!

I found this really cool small computer at a local Thrift store today, along with the original box, accessories, and original receipt from 1984!

(I put a processed / American cheese square in the photo for comparison, to show you how REALLY TINY this 8-bit is!

It is colour, has sound, really easy to use microsoft basic, hooks to any TV, can save to cassette.

Also in the box is a 16K RAM expander for this computer that looks like it hardly has been used, if ever.

This computer is amazingly cute! After only about 10 minutes with it I wrote a simple program that had the screen colours cycling and random musical notes playing.

Anway, because I'm trying to keep my computer collection manageable (to Commodore computers only) I'm offering it up for trade. Anyone interested? I'm looking for anything interesting Commodore related (hardware, software, magazines). Outside computers I also collect ColecoVision, Atari 2600, Intellivision and Vectrex.

I guess if I don't get any takers I'll just keep it because this thing is adorable!

That really is a neat find! I've never even heard of that computer. I just read up on it a little. It has a lot of similarities to the Timex 1000, but with color and sound. Reminds me a lot of the Timex though. I wish I had something to trade for it, but I really can't think of anything offhand. I gave away most of my 2600 doubles recently.

Yeah, it reminds me of a colour timex sinclair. This one has a 32 column screen and a chiclet keyboard instead of a membrane one, though. Very cool! The BASIC is highly compatible with stuff in computer books / magazines from that era. I'd love to see a text adventure running on this little thing (except for the typing part, that would be fun).

Yeah, exactly, it's a lot like a Timex-Sinclair, but... a lot nicer!

Tangent: Of all my old computers, the only one my wife has ever taken any interest in was the Timex-Sinclair. She wanted to hook it up and play with it, which we will sometime, but I'm sure she'll be dissuaded from her interest pretty quickly! I think she just thinks it's "cute".

Keep it for a future all-purpose swap meet.

From its specs, it looks like the CoCo adaption of a ZX Spectrum, or perhaps Acorn Electron. The keyboard also reminds me of the Multitech MicroProfessor II.

I don't really know. There's nothing I actually *NEED* anymore. I'm missing a lot of COMPUTE magazines still. I also collect for most of the consoles (Atari, Intellivision, ColecoVision, Vectrex), but the only cartridges I still need for those are scarce or rare ones.

I'm always looking for a boxed VIC-20 Temple of Apshai game.

I will consider any trade lists sent my way though. I may see something I didn't know I was interested in.

The "pie in the sky" item I would still like to find is an original PET2001 with built in tape drive. But I don't expect to trade that for this outright, of course.

Okay, but please realise that is probably for surface mail (three to six weeks delivery WITHOUT delivery confirmation). I know this because I tried sending a laptop to PitCalco in Sweden and $60 was the price I was quoted.

Anyway, if you have anything for trade please feel free to PM me a trade list.

I'd love to get hold of this, but I can't imagine postage to Australia being anywhere near reasonable.

I've been looking for one of these computers for quite some time. They don't come up for sale very often in Australia.

The only thing that I'd have of interest to trade is a Dick Smith Wizzard computer/console. But it's not in your list of things to have.

Thanks for mentioning the Dick Smith wizard console. One of the reasons I'm trying to find a good home for this MS-10, though, is that I'm "restraining" myself to Commodore gear only. I have quite a pile, and I can't reasonably start collecting for another computer platform.

You're probably correct, shipping to Australia would be frighteningly high, unfortunately.
