Hi,
While developing my game I wrote a Windows-based editor to create multi-color mode graphics characters.
Clicking "Save" appends hex bytes to "chardef.txt."

Awesome! I can't wait to try it. I would love to have DEC instead of HEX, but I may be the only one.

Welcome! Is this game still in development? Tell us more

I bet another save option to save in decimal could be added in minutes...

It sure is. I'm writing it with Acme and Vice for the unexpanded Vic. It's a platformer. I don't want to say too much beyond that...

Jeff-20 option added. Click on the HEX button to switch to DEC mode.

That's just what i need. I've got a sheet of paper in front of me at the moment, with a grid drawn on it!
Unfortunately, though, i use Linux, not windows, and i can't get it to run in Wine.
Oh well, back to the pencil and paper!

If you're using Ubuntu, you might want to try this, which would allow you to run the Character Editor in Linux:

It may not be worth the effort though
On another note, I updated the editor to paint pixels rather than having to click for each one. Unless there are any other requests, I'm done fiddling!

Thanks.
I don't use Ubuntu, but it looks like i could install it on my Fedora system - however, as you say, it may not be worth the effort!
I'll try and sort out the problem with running it under Wine. But the paper and pencil method will probably be the easiest in the end!

I think
(a) it's a cute chicken sprite.
(b) the character color should contrast more with the screen color
(c) you should use png!
