I wouldn't want a rushed job. We've been waiting over 20 years for something like this! I think you can take your time and get everything just the way you want it. Even if it means another six months to a year to have a perfect cart with whatever you'd like to include (box, manual, whatever).

Hi Jeff, the hardware and software side are perfect, all tested and re-tested a lot of time for both PAL and NTSC systems.

Now Brian is working on PCB reducing to fit it in a standard CBM cartridge, i think that a MegaCart that looks like an old Vic cart using new Ral-clan logo is fantastic.

As final touch the packaging in original CBM style is good too.
Mega-Cart: the cartridge you plug in once and for all.

Still planning to use 27C801 eproms, but in PLCC package.

Would you be interested in using a single 27C160 instead?

Ok! Whew (wipes sweat off brow).

I can think of no more appropriate day than today, boxing day, to present the newly finished artwork for the MEGACART cardboard box (PS: I know that there are a couple of typos: "accessories" and "truly". No time to re-render a correct version tonight! ):

These are low resolution preview images of course. The actual image that would go to press is of much higher resolution.

We are currently looking into the cost of having these boxes produced - unfortunately I fully expect it will be quite expensive (offset colour printing) - so we will have to see. I'd really love to see a real box made for this cartridge - so it will all depend on how much the customers (you guys) think it is worth jacking up the price to produce a run of boxes.

Keep tuned to this thread for MEGACART cartridge label art (which will definitely be produced).

Notes: this artwork was produced by me (Ral-Clan) from scratch entirely on a Commodore Amiga 2000 computer. Please guys don't distribute this image quite yet - it's a preview for Denial members - unless you ask first.

Just got this finished in time before heading off for a few days!

All the best and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyful Kwanzaa...Ramadan...etc....etc....etc.

That is too funny. I love the Saturday Night Fever theme. It shows that the VIC-20 is Stayin' Alive. ;)
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

Well I don't recall a price being mentioned. So, I wouldn't know if you jacked the price up for the box or not. I still want a megacart! :D

Cool stuff!

Yeah, unfortunately getting custom boxes made seems really expensive. Everyone I've heard of that has went through all the work to get it done says it ends up being somewhere around $10 per box. The guys at AtariAge.com have done it for some of the new cartridges they've produced.

$10 per box. Actually thats at the low end of what I expected. I would personally be willing to pay $10 extra to have a box produced....of course, the printing shop probably has a minimum order to even start up the presses, so EVERYONE would have to be willing to have a box as much as I do!

Wow that looks great!

I know a few people in the printing business, I will see what I can find out about printing these in the new year when they get back.

What is the quantity we are looking at?
