How many of us had this experience?

Apparently that video is one or a few years old, and the guy who is in the video has already sold his old, boxed Nintendo 64 on eBay ... for about $1000.

The C-64 was released when? 83? If so then my memory is screwy somewhere. I seem to remember my parents almost trying to talk me out of asking for the VIC-20 before Christmas, saying they had heard there was a new, better computer out by Commodore (or coming out)? But late 1982 would be pretty early for this (considering my parents did not follow the computer maket at all). I guess someone in the know must have told them about the impending C64.

The VIC-1001 was released in Japan in 1980, then renamed the VIC-20 and released in U.S./Europe in 1981. The C64 was announced at the Winter CES in Las Vegas in January 1982, and released in August that same year. The C128 and Commodore LCD were announced at CES in Las Vegas in January 1985. The C128 was released later that year... The LCD never was.

And there you have it...

That wasn't staged and after the video became the meme de jour, the kid in the video (grown up, of course) made himself known and was interviewed by a few video game websites. He end up selling that N64 on eBay for a whopping $1051 USD. Not bad. 15 minutes of fame and a grand for a console that was worth about $20 in a used video game store.

No. That game console was charged with joy! With that much noteriety, I wouldn't want to sell my original.

Not even if you were offered 20-50 times the item's value? Well, perhaps not if you already have enough money to get by. Someone else claimed the N64 was not even boxed anymore, so it was sold loose. I don't know, and can't be bothered to look it up.

lol, both mine are from flea markets. $20 for my first, complete and boxed, plus a guide to BASIC. Second was $5 in the box, but it's yellowed, filthy, and the space bar didn't work. The spring had come out from underneath and no one ever bothered to replace it.

Anyways, I had a similar experience with my N64 when I was 6 or 8, I don't remember the age. I remember thinking how realistic the graphics were. Anybody ever seen the video of that kid who got a Blastoise pokemon card? Here's a link :
