Development of the Mega65, a clone of the Commodore 65, is progressing slowly but surely. Prototyping has gone on for a few years, prototype boards have been sent out to beta testers, and now a Kickstarter campaign has started to gather money to build the steel moulds (molds) for the injection-molded cases of the Mega65.
I have sent in my donation! For more information on the Mega65, go to

Re: Mega65 Retro Computer - Kickstarter for moulds
Wow, they already collected more than 16.000 euros, with many people donating more than 100 (highest 1.600
).
This computer seems to be anxiously awaited for its completion, even if the final price probably won't be affordable for anyone's pocket.

This confirms it's a project for the rich

Re: Mega65 Retro Computer - Kickstarter for moulds
Or some rich people make it avalable for the poor as the moulds are for everyone, not the supporters only

Re: Mega65 Retro Computer - Kickstarter for moulds
True, but this is a computer that wasn't, so I'm happy they are building it as an ideal ending of the Commodore 8 bit saga.
Expensive moulds made available for the production of everyone's C65 - also true, but I don't think a stock C65 will be very cheap either

Re: Mega65 Retro Computer - Kickstarter for moulds
Goal reached! Now at over 69,000 Euros of the 66,000 required.
Mega65 developer Paul Gardner-Stephen talks about the new, sudden influx of money (in an article printed just before the crowdfunding goal was reached) and the plans for making the moulds at

Re: Mega65 Retro Computer - Kickstarter for moulds
This is pretty awesome but I would be more excited with new bread-bin molds.
