"vi" for the VIC-20!

Post by Schema »

8)

Soci/Singular has released the first version of his "vi65" tool, a vi clone for 6502 computers. I was amused to see that there is also a VIC version!

So, this is a proper text editor for the Vic then? Is it possible to write and save code in it as well? That would be great! :)

Hmm, interesting. I'll try it out and see how it compares with my favorite C128 editor, Zed 0.77.

Why? There is no compiler or assembler which can work with this text files?

vi (vim) is my text editor of choice for text file and with 40x22 this could be interesting to look into and try out.

Clumsying around with this.
Setting xvic to 24K, I can run vi65_vic20_22 by dragging it into the emulator. Sweet!
Esc mapped to Run/Stop takes me to Normal Mode. i inserts, y yanks, p pastes, / searches, :q leaves. All good!

Now when I drag the others, vi65_vic20_40, vi65_vic20_32, vi65_vic20_26, onto the emulator, I get this:

I also tried 16K. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the info! Well, at least there's the 22-column version as a text editor for me to use.
