I have a VIC-1540 disk drive in mint condition (really!) in its original box that I'll be putting up on eBay later today (I'll post here again with a link when I do). Inside the box is the original VIC-1540 test/demo disk. I did a quick search of the Internet for this disk, but I couldn't find it anywhere. The programs on this disk are made specifically for the VIC-20, unlike the 1541 test/demo disk which is geared primarily toward the C64. Sadly, the disk got bent over the side of the drive in the box at some point in time, so there's a nasty bend on the original disk. I couldn't get the disk to read at all in the VIC-1540 nor in any of the 1541's that I tried, but I was able to get it to read in a 1571 just long enough to make a copy. I made a D64 of that copy, so if anyone would like to check it out, you can download a zipped d64 of it here.

Here's a photo of the box contents, with the test/demo disk on top, for anyone who's interested:

The photo of the back of the drive is the 1540-5.jpg photo.
It's on the back. The only angle I didn't shoot is the bottom of the drive, but there's nothing there except the normal vent holes and four "shiny-new" rubber feet.jbuonacc wrote:is the FCC sticker on the bottom of the drive or on the back?

Recently acquired a 1540-test-demo-disk myself and made an image. Mine is missing the VIC-wedge that was included in wiskow's image. So maybe the one I have is even older.

I updated the link in my original post to the correct URL, so it should work again now.

Thank you! I have an old VIC-1541 with VLEB in which I installed the VIC-1540 firmware.wiskow wrote:I updated the link in my original post to the correct URL, so it should work again now.
BTW, I looked at the pic you posted on your BBS. You have quite an array of Commodore 8 bit related equipment. A nice stack of 1541 drives too!!
Be normal.
