Hi everyone! I have updated my "universal" game Cross Shoot (written with my framework Cross-Lib: https://github.com/Fabrizio-Caruso/CROSS-LIB). Is someone interested in giving a try to the Vic 20 (+16K) version? The new version has different enemies and improved graphics.
The VIC20+16K binary is available at:
https://github.com/Fabrizio-Caruso/CROS ... xp_16k.prg
It can also be played on the browser (Chrome seems to perform better):
https://nippur72.github.io/vic20-emu/?j ... xp_16k.prg
GAMEPLAY:
You have to fight against several enemies with your very week weapon or by placing hard to come by powerful mines. Common enemies are pushed by your standard weapon. If they hit the walls, they die instantly. There are different 12 items to improve your fire power and get extra points and powers. Most powerful items are sort of "secret" and can be triggered by killing skulls or by destroying missiles. The game has 16 "secrets" to discover, 16 levels + 1 secret level with 2 boss levels.

Re: Cross Shoot V2
It works great for me on my real Vic-20. I didn't really know what I was doing at times (or what things were that I was collecting), but I got to level 5 with 3 secrets.
Not being able to move diagonal was the cause of several deaths, and it could do with some extra sound, but it's not bad at all. Well done

Re: Cross Shoot V2
Thanks for trying my game.
The game is not written for the VIC 20. It is written with my framework Cross-Lib: https://github.com/Fabrizio-Caruso/CROSS-LIB
which builds the game for all computers, consoles, scientific calculators, arcade boards, etc. from hardware-agnostic game code.
This partially explains the limited graphics and sounds. I will improve sounds but I cannot just do it for the Vic 20. I have to do it for 200 different computers and consoles.
In case you may want to give it a second try I can give some hints:
There are 12 items and only 5 are available at first. In order to unlock the most powerful items you need to do things like:
- hit the skulls several times
- complete levels by killing *all* four skulls and keeping some ghosts alive
- destroy missile/rocket bases (in level with missiles or rockets)
- improve your fire power by collecting the fire power item several times

I got to level 10, with 7 secrets. I've put a video of it on YouTube.
