Orion, this will go next in line below your ever-delayed purchase of a Vectrex!!! It will take forever!!!orion70 wrote:Atari 800 is so stylish! It wasn't very popular in Italy (Europe?) back then, so I never tried nor seen one live. I'd very like to buy one just to try it. Also, the programs look very blocky and simple, much in the late Seventies' fashion. Would you suggest buying one?
I agree that the Atari 800 was possibly the best-looking home computer ever made. Not as cute as the VIC, but with a very respectable design. I used to read wonders about it on magazines back then (and, in turn, I'm also suprised by how blocky these games are) but I also never met anyone who owned one. Not that I knew anyone owning and Apple II, also. Although not necessarily true, both were considered very expensive machines back then. In any case, most lads used to buy the same computer that their schoolmates already had, to borrow games and programs.
GOD is REAL. Unless declared DOUBLE PRECISION.

Guess so . Also, they're low-priced compared to PET, Apple ][, and even the early VIC, but not cheap enough for my wife. That's why I just bought a working Philips MSX model VG-8020 for as low as 30 Euros - so MSX world is next in line. I was curious to study its BASIC and it was more popular than the "alternative Americans" back then in Europe (especially Spain and the Netherlands). Coming home next week from EvilBay.highinfidelity wrote:Orion, this will go next in line below your ever-delayed purchase of a Vectrex!!! It will take forever!!!
So true. Me, I was convinced to ask my parents for a VIC when I tried one in the "IT room" of middle school, circa 1982. I was one of the few - two, in fact - kids in my home town to buy a micro in the same year (well, it was St. Lucy to bring it home for me on the night of Dec. 12th, but this is folklore ).highinfidelity wrote:I agree that the Atari 800 was possibly the best-looking home computer ever made.
