Sorry, I meant a generic "you"... just to express my thoughts. Because if I do the extra pdf in Italian, why not doing it in other languages too? but I think that's just going to make everything too complicated.mrr19121970 wrote:I did mean Italian as the local language. I only speak English.

Re: VIC 20 book on Kickstarter
Even being spanish my mother tonge, I would only publish the book in english.
Perhaps, and I repeat perhaps, later, after the first batch of books comes out, I'd consider other languages.
Perhaps the reward to those who help you on the translation could be a printed copy of the translated copy itself, but only if it even comes out of print. For me, a simple Spanish translated PDF whould suffice, for example. This is already a big effort to layout the entire book again !
I think a local-single-language VIC-20 community is too small to support such big efforts. That's why we meet in global forums like Denial anyway
This is my two cents.

Re: VIC 20 book on Kickstarter
I think it's better to leave out any language except English for now.
As rgrocha says, the VIC 20 community is too small to put another campaign at risk by proposing pdf localizations. I'll think about translations at a later time.

Hi Jeff!Jeff-20 wrote:How did I miss this thread?! I've been away too long!
I hope to start a new campaign by the end of May: I want to better plan the written contributions of the VIC team, make a presentation video, have more spreads for the description, think about rewards and stretch goals, have more quotes for printing the book.
Of course I will keep the Denial community updated.

Re: VIC 20 book on Kickstarter
I have made a teaser video for the next Kickstarter campaign, starting on May 30.
Apple style, full of "amazing", "gorgeous", "remarkable" and "most advanced"...
I hope you like it, comments welcome :-)

No, theese are pictures I took months ago. They're a first version US model (1001 motherboard) and an early two prong PAL model.mrr19121970 wrote:This is the pal silver label that you bought on eBay ?
The silver label VIC arrived a few days ago (the shipping got stuck for a couple of weeks for unknown reasons) - I will update the thread in a moment :-)

I just saw the video - and laughed out loud
. You are almost credible in the President's shoes (at least, you would have been if we were in the Eighties
). Will back your second try with the English version only, hands down.

I have to confess that the first two phrases are taken from a Jony Ive presentation of the iPhone 5s :-Dorion70 wrote:I just saw the video - and laughed out loud :D . But all the talking about gorgeous palette and amazing sound, till the end, is mine.
Making people laugh is all I wanted!
Anyway... if you need more info, please contact your nearest Commodore dealer.
Re: VIC 20 book on Kickstarter
Yes. Focus on the English. It makes little sense to duplicate much of the work for other languages for such a small run. Including PDF only.oldcomputr wrote:I think it's better to leave out any language except English for now.

Personally I would probably not buy a Swedish version anyway, even if there was one.

Re: VIC 20 book on Kickstarter
Hi all, the backers of the first campaign should have received a message about the new campaign.
If you want to take a look (and hopefully back the project!), here's the link to the new campaign.
Any help is greatly appreciated, especially sharing the link on sites, forums and groups where English is not spoken.
Thanks!
