Thank you for the nice cart, I got mine yesterday.

I just played some games and was wondering that "Loderunner" wasn´t presented by Broderbund instead it was presented by "Kotzbrocken Software".
I thing that must be a modfied german cart rip (I was to lazy to compare my original Loderunner cart).

Anyway great work and nice collection of games/tools.

Best regards Hacky

Yeah, that's odd because my real Loderunner cartridge definitely says Broderbund on the label and I think the intro screen.

Yes the intro screen of the rom inside the Mega-Cart (taken from zimmers) says by Broderbund, i don't know if there is a different version in Germany.

Sorry when I confuse you but I meant that the version of Loderunner included with the Megacart seems to be a modified (cracked ?) rip of the original Loderunner cart.

The message "Kotzbrocken presents" (when you start the game from the mega cart) sounds to me like some german must have modified the original (missing) "Broderbund presents" message.

Kotzbrocken is a dirty word in german it means to puke a boulder.

Strange, it suggests some of the cartridge dumps came from an alternative source.

Although off-topic, the method to display text strings in Loderunner is a bit interesting. Each string starts with column, row and character colour, then follows the string ended with $FE. That is why the string "PRESENTS" starting on column 6, row 1 (counting from 0,0) displayed in yellow colour shows in a machine code monitor as "FAGPRESENTS". From one dirty word to another.

In effect the included Mega-Cart rom says K0TZBR0CKENSOFTWARE and (C) KBR while the cart dump present in zimmer says BR0DERBUND SOFTWARE and (C) 1983

http://zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/vic2 ... r-6000.prg
http://zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/vic2 ... r-a000.prg

The current Mega-Cart's Lode Runner rom was originally added to the firmware by 6502dude and I never touched it because the game has no PAL/NTSC or screen centering issues, both $a000 and $6000 files are different from the Zimmer version.

The BLK5 differences are only on the title screen text:
(K0TZBR0CKENSOFTWARE and (C) KBR)
and the last byte (unused by the program) is $ff instead of $0

The BLK3 has latest 13 bytes different:

Code: Select all

Zimmer version:
$7ff3 53 47 ce 53 54 41 54 4c 4f 44 45 41 30 (SG.STATLODEA0)

Current MC version:
$7ff3 4c 4f 44 45 52 55 4e 4e 45 52 20 41 30 (LODERUNNER A0)
It's interesting to know where Brian got it btw I wish to know if someone has an original cartridge with K0TZBR0CKENSOFTWARE on title screen.

Hi,

I wish to inform you that i've just updated Mega-Cart roms with a new revision (rev.19) and it will be used for next units.

This is the list of changes from the previous revision:

-Info page updated (now it displays the Mega-Cart revision too)

-Credits page updated

-Lode Runner (substituted roms with original Zimmers version, thanks to hacky for noting it)

-Hellgate (substituted the old version with a new working version, thanks to Mayhem and oracle_jedi for the new version)

-Quikman+ (substituted the old version with the new version with Mega-Cart hi-score save support, thanks to rhurst)

no of course but you may ask 6502dude for roms substitution if possible, I don't know, btw you may sell your unit and buy another one if you want

MegaCart has two build in Flash memory. So it should be easy to rewrite it, cause banking is documented.

Flash memory needs a magic write sequence to start flash and start erasing.

Maybe it is nessecary to connect the R/W to /WE and inverted to /OE like I do this on my Final Expansion. I didn't see a MegaCart schematic.

This is incorrect.
27C801 is OTP eprom, not a flash memory chip.
