How many working VICs are left in the world?
I think there were 2.5 million made, and I only see about one or two a week on all the auction sites I watch (nz,japan, ebay).
that makes me wonder if there are only about 20,000 left?

How many working VICs are left in the world?
well I now own 3
1 good condition working
1 yellowed working
1 broken keyboard but working
so if most enthusiasts own a few and there is probably a a lot in garages, I guess there is still a fair few left around

I have seen the whole Vic 20 made on a reprogrammable chipshem wrote:6 or 7 but 2 are faulty damn mos6561 is dead in both of the faulty ones
most parts are still available the cpu the 6522 the roms can be cloned but not the 6561 vic chips

surely the 6561 can be reproduced - although may cost too much?
Jim Brain does stuff like that see - ROM-el

Not sure if this tech can be used to redo the 6561?

I have 48 C64, 1 VIC-20, 1 C128, and a TI-99/4a in the bed of the truck.

I'll have to post a picture.
I traded a couple of Amiga computers for the remaining stock a guy has from a defunct Commodore repair center. This load is just the tip of the iceberg. He says there's still enough left to fill the bed of the truck and I have to quote "take them all"
One of them is an odd one that I think I might have to restore. It has a silver label with the name Commodore in black ink then the smaller one around the power LED says '64' on it. I've never seen one like that before.

Sounds like a first gen NTSC model C64 to me. I think they're really pretty...channelmaniac wrote:...One of them is an odd one that I think I might have to restore. EDIT: Back on topic(ish), I have 4 Vics (3 are 2 prong and 1 is DIN PSU). I also have a C64C and a C128D.
