I met someone who was working on this at a vintage computer show a couple years ago. Don't know if the same person put up this site, but I do know it was real.

It is/was real, this is/was my project which has slid out of production.

I spend many hours planning this so that it would fit properly in memory and do believe the plan works, but I simply haven't had the time to invest in this.

History is that I started making a Gauntlet version when I was a kid in th 80s. I had a BASIC version that allowed you to move around a one-screen map, pick up keys, open doors, and I believe fire a shot.

I still have the BASIC version, in fact, I ripped the graphics from a cassette save I made in the 80s for this version. I did update them somewhat though.

As for my attempt to code this in ML, I had flowcharts and working code last I touched it, but not for much. If I find the time, I hope to return to it and finish it.

And to the above poster, if you are referring to the show in Marborough, MA, that was indeed me!

Reviving a VERY OLD thread, because I happened to find this site still alive, but not updated since 2003.

Exit, are you still around? If you don't want to finish it, why don't you pass the project to someone else here in the forum?
Anyone has news about it? :?:

I hate when someone announces and then abandons a project.

I share the sentiment when I see old web pages with some really neat ideas.

However, I have often started out with great aspirations for a variety of projects, but time constraints and the amount of needed bring someting to conclusion can take many more hours than I have available.

With some folks, interests and priorities change as their family grows.

That's why I tend not to "Announce" my projects until they're done. If I created a web page about every project I decided to start, you guys would cry.

Same here, i tend to keep stuff to myself until at least about 50% complete - that way it'll turn up at some point... in theory. =-)

Sometimes posting a draft could be useful if you seek cooperation. After 12 years of developing retro software, except for a few demos I have almost never cooperated with anyone. Well, I have contributed music player code to others to include into their projects but that is not quite cooperation in my eyes.

I've posted a lot about this on lemon64.com, but I've posted the newest info in the programming thread on this site too. I have decided that I can't let my life end without first completing this game!
Some day I will finish it:

Result! I guess asking about Gauntlet wasn't Overkill. ;)
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.
