Machine Language: where should I start?

Post by Ivanhoe76 »

Good evening everybody guys (at least any of you who lives near the greenwich parallel). I need help: Can anybody tell me which book I can use for learning ML basics... I was good enough programming in basic V2 on real vic but now I want to learn (finally) ML that was my final aim (never reached for lack of time)! Please, don't forget to tell me where I can find it too, if you can, anyway... thanks for your patience (...to help a poor rookie!!!)

Hi Ivanhoe, sorry for answering late to your request. I found this online book which seems to include VIC-specific chapters (ML is not my cup of tea  ).

A little note: several books are digitized there, mostly for Atari, but there are also gems like "BASIC Computer Games" or "Creating Adventure Games on Your Computer".

Have fun!

Why should you buy it, when it's entirely OCRed on the site? You'd better print it out for your personal use, maybe one chapter at a time, so that you can learn ML gradually...

A couple of years ago, after I learned this text was released, I ripped out all of the Atari crap from the html and put it on my internal home network.

(I guess I had too much spare time then  ).

You can access this e-book from this link:

The original is here: http://www.atariarchives.org/mlb/index.php

EDIT: I've found an ebay auction for a book specifically about VIC-20 ML.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. It looks like an interesting book so I snagged it. When it arrives I'll get it scanned in and I'll make it available to anyone that wants a copy.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

The book arrived today (that was fast!) and it's in perfect condition which is going to make it tough to break for scanning. Oh well. It's for the greater good. I'll be as gentle as I can.

Very great gklinger... I keep waiting for it (if you can scan it all)... Don't be afraid for the time it takes, be gentle with it, it' a real treasure    ... Unluckily the book i desired ("Alla scoperta del vic 20", an italian programming learning book) wasn't found anywhere by my girlfriend...
