Got my copy, too! It’s going to live next to my VIC. An excellent production.

My book should be here by Monday! I've ordered the Lulu version with the spiral binding. Looking forward very much to see how it's turned out.

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
Dear Jeff,
The Book was arrived and it is very helpfull.
I like it. The User defined characters are very funny.
And i have some questions:
I have the Version 1.1
On page 1 Start Vicmon Sys 64096 is 6x4096 ?
On page 3 Is there a MOS 6502A installed in the VIC or a MOS 6502 ? Or are the chips the same? I think the A is the 2MHz version? And is there a 6502A Coprozessor available?
Thank you so much for the good work.
Best regards
Sven

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
That "SYS 64096" is both a typo and a big blunder in the original VICMON manual. It points to a part of the tape routines in the KERNAL, which are completely unrelated to VICMON. At one point, these routines pop a stray return address from stack (see $FA60..$FAAA, continued at $FF56), which then likely leads to a BRK being executed, which in turn starts VICMON - but for the wrong reasons, and only *if* the correct SYS 24576 or SYS 6*4096 already had initialised the BRK vector to point into VICMON.MrSterlingBS wrote:On page 1 Start Vicmon Sys 64096 is 6x4096?
Doesn't help either that two years ago I already suggested that SYS be corrected in Jeff's VIC-20 book, yet no ...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
My book arrived the other day - it will be a "working" book, sat in the pile of stuff I laughably call a desk at home and used frequently. Thanks for putting it together and crediting all of us small guys that contributed single-line changes here and there.

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement! I remind you this is a free-time hobby project and will be far from perfect. I welcome and appreciate all corrections for future updates.
I would like to think of this as a "living document" and will post here when a significant number of changes have been made to the PDF. The print-on-demand copies show version numbers, and I will try to keep a change log in this thread.
Version 1.1 changed the page order to better take advantage of color printing (making some pages monochrome because only two color pages were available).
Mike, I found this correction appears in some drafts and likely disappeard in a later copy/paste error. Not ignoring you.

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
If you order the spiral bound one from Lulu it should last longer if you are using it a lot. Personally, having it spiral bound adds a burst of retro feel to it and makes it feel so much better as I have so many memories learning programming from spiral bound computer manuals from my youth.

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
Somehow I have been under a rock and missed this. Fortunately Jeff was at VCFMW this year and I was able to get a copy signed by him. Great Job on the book and great to see you again Jeff!
