Thanks
You only have to change the device number once, it stays changed until you change it again or power down. Lee. It just seems like such a pain in the rear though to run the program every time. A proper explanation of how to change the disk drives number physically would have been a better solution o...

1541 Device # change
I've got two perfectly working 1541 drives and I've tried to figure out how to change the drive number on one of them. The manual "USELESS is the only word for it" says that I have to cut one of the jumpers. How can this be done. And out of curiosity will anyone sell a completed 1541 conve...

Nope they never cared
I recall buying a replacement power supply from Commodore(I think...?), and they were sold as interchangeable. Really makes me wonder if they even cared. It was the same when you wanted to change the 1541 drive number. They never told you the jumpers weren't cables and which jumpers to cut. They ne...

I remember a Star Trek game from the late 80s/early 90s [...] I don't think it was for Amiga or ST. You probably mean 'Star Trek - The Rebel Universe' which first appeared in a version for Atari ST ( youtube ), but was also released for C64(!) and IBM PC ( link ). OK, thanks Mike, I'll take a look....

I recall a weird paradox: IBM, Microsoft, and sellers of MSDOS type machines convinced business users that graphics were not important to business computing, and machines with decent graphics were only for video games... And Apple convinced business users that instant pie charts and WYSIWIG word pr...

LOve the idea of another Star Trek game for the VIC 20. So far the only ones that I've played that have been any good at all are the Star Trek Cartridge (which is pretty good IMO), and 3D Time Trek (which is a star trek inspired game I suppose). The trouble is 3D Time tRek has some nice graphics an...

Creating a new "Star Trek Enterprise" game for the
For the past couple of days I've been thinking about creating a new game for the Vic 20 based on the TV series Star Trek Enterprise. I was thinking it would be based on the Mirror Darkly episode. I would most likely have to write it in Basic since I'm not all that good with machine language yet. But...

Your vic 20's problems
1st is your video cable connecting properly? Check video socket to see that its snug. If this isn't the issue then look into the following. The way I see it you have a two part problem here. Problem number 1 is you may need to replace your power supply because it may have damaged your Vic chip. If y...

A vic 20 Ethernet userport adapter or cartridge.
I was wondering if its possible to create an ethernet adapter for the Vic 20 like the C64 has. I've seen how breadbox 64 works on a c64 or 128 and I was thinking it may be possible to do the same thing with the Vic 20. It seems to me that a cartridge would be the most feasible approach to take in th...

VHS tapes
The VCR is still alive and well in my home. Over the last few years, I've been able to buy VHS tapes in charity shops for about 50p a go; sometimes, you even get offers of four for £1. I now have about 800 VHS tapes and about twelve different copies of Ghostbusters. It's true. Buying a VHS movie no...
