If only we could find a legal way to make him leave this planet as well!
We need an open season to thin the heard.

Re: VIC-2000 Expander. Modern Power Using Retro Parts!
I have been busy for 6 months launching my new website, which will include this project (and many others) in much more detail. https://www.AtomicZombie.com It was just too much work to post all over the place, so I am going to consolidate all of my projects. Will also be moving all my old work from ...

Re: It's working! Full motion video on a VIC-20 (+3K)
Dude, congrats! You really rocked it with that project. A nice achievement, and being the first you have new VIC-20 street cred! It's cool to see that 1 bit video is actually quite watchable. The beach girls in the Miami Vice intro still look good, even though they are made of perhaps a thousand sin...

Re: Behr-Bonz 2015
Any chance I could purchase a few blank PCBs?
I am doing a few more VIC expansion projects and don't want to destroy any more Jupiter Lander Carts for the PCB!
If so, let me know how much.
I am in your neck of the woods (well, Canada at least)!
Thanks,
Brad

Re: VIC-20 JetPack [split from: VICE Build and Mods]
I have the VIC setup like this... ; screenmem = 253 bytes from 512 to 764 ; charmem = 4048 bytes from 4096 to 8143 ; colormem = 253 bytes from 38400 to 38652 On boot, the system shoves out the Cart Signature as VIC reads Block5. The system then send a "virtual" kickstart code sets up the 6...

Re: VIC-20 JetPack [split from: VICE Build and Mods]
Since the only time I have to spend on my JetPack project is over the winter months, I do get a lot of time to think about the final design, which will commence when I am once again buried under a layer of snow. I have 2 hours of commute time per day to work, so I have been evolving things towards t...

Re: VIC-20 JetPack [split from: VICE Build and Mods]
I actually had a few hours of hackin' time this weekend due to a power outage! Sitting by the glow of a solar LED light, I worked out the final direction for my JetPack project. Having tried many solutions from FPGA+HDMI to 1980's NTSC, I have decided on a VIC only solution. Although it was cool to ...

Re: Resistors between cassette port and video port?
Thanks! Unfortunately, the hacking I did in 1982 using the old man's plumbing solder iron, scotch tape, and twist ties for wiring was never documented. The tapes that once held that code are probably rotting in a landfill, having first been overwritten by pirated copies of Judas Priest or Black Sabb...

Re: Resistors between cassette port and video port?
Exactly. I loaded up my 1980's VIC version of "ITunes", which did nothing more than know how long to run the casette motor in order to search or play a song. After the program was loaded, I swapped out the tape with an actual audio casette, and flipped on the switch that played the audio t...

Re: VIC-20 JetPack [split from: VICE Build and Mods]
I like the stacks as well, and they are certainly less work. For this project, I wanted to make future repairs easier, so I decided to socket each SRAM. In the end, I may have 32+ SRAMs on the board, and plan to stock pile many more so I can keep this unit in service for the rest of my years. Same g...

Re: VIC-20 JetPack [split from: VICE Build and Mods]
I hear ya! I am glad that you stick to the stock machine in your endeavors. The thread here on various graphics modes is like gold. I am more interested in 6502 coding mixed with retro logic, so it just makes sense to drive it all ahead with the very computer that lit the fire for me so many years b...

Re: VIC-20 JetPack [split from: VICE Build and Mods]
Thanks Orion, VGER was really just my attempt at learning to talk back and forth between the VIC cartridge port and an FPGA. It worked well, and I learned a lot. The real magic started for me when I put away all the moder tech, and went back to the 80's, using 74 logic and TV display! Come on now Mi...

Re: Resistors between cassette port and video port?
I saved actual music! By simply leaving play pressed, you could control the cassette motor with the VIC. Imagine the expressions on the faces of your pals when the VIC screen displayed "Playing.. Judas Priest", and The Sentinel rocked on through your monitor speakers! It was mostly a gimmi...
