They lined up overnight in Chicago... around the block. Just for the HALO 2 game. What's the big deal about this game? I thought it was something like Doom. Is this all just hype?

It's probably the best console based FPS.

Halo was seen as the best, and for a console it is. However it's only 'good' as far as PC FPS's go.

I didn't like it much.

Its probably no better or no worse than a lot of the other crop of FPS's available...But IMHO Micro$oft threw an absolute crapload of cash at an advertising agency and said "Put it everywhere"

I played through Halo 1 on the xbox. It was my first FPS on either a xbox or PS2 (I had played some poor ones on the PS1), and thought it was just OK. Albeit I had been playing FPS games on the PC for a while, many of which IMHO leave Halo for dead (such as RTCW, one of my fave ever games).

I never understood the whole "Halo Is the greatest game" thing when it was happening. Maybe Halo was considered the greatest game *on the xbox* by some, but it certainly never deserved to be treated as the greatest game across platforms.

All hype, and microsofts marketing at its best.

All in all I still prefer Time Splitters 2 on the xbox, especially for multi-player. I have bought halo 2, but its in a queue behind Half Life 2 (currently playing) and Doom 3 (will play next) - both on the PC.

My $0.02 worth.

I still remember the days we were playing DOOM (2) and Heretic on a Novell 2.15 network :) Hmmm, that was 16 years ago. Sigh, I'm getting old probably :(

chris, have you ever played the "Thief" series? It's first-person perspective like the Doom, Quake series (etc) but the emphasis is much more on exploring and stealth than combat.

There's plenty of anxiety to be had in that game! It's my favorite game series on any platform.

cool, you can.

i wouldn't mind picking up a gamecube someday, and one of the versions of thief is available for it.

I lost interest in Theif when I found zombies.

That ruined the game for me.
