This is my version of the popular Puzzle game 'Columns', for the VIC-20.
Download from here
Original game was developped by Jay Geertsen in 1989 for the HP-UX operating system. SEGA acquired the rights and released it for their consoles. Game was later ported to many platforms (including 8 bit computers and mobile phones). There was already a version for the VIC-20, called ViColumn, but it is different to the original one (more rows / columns and it doesn't check diagonals, just horizontal and vertical lines). In this version I have tried to mimic original SEGA version.
As for the music, I would have liked to include original 'Clotho' theme (music in this game is very distinctive...), but I wasn't able to come up with something that sounded even close (I'm terrible with music) so have included thre classic themes that will play on loop (every 30 gems, level is increased and the theme music will switch between one of these three). As soon as you get fed up with the music (very soon, I guess), you can mute it by pressing 'M'.
Cheers

Nice photo!, from the size of the screen border it looks like an NTSC VIC, is it? I only have PAL VICs so could only try, for NTSC, in VICE
Cheers

Thank you for this. My Vic has been packed away for a bit, I've got incentive(more) now to get it back on the desk!
