I haven't got the specs on the plastic case for the MegaCart yet, so I haven't re-designed the cartridge label to fit that. However, I took a shot at doing a hi-res version on the MegaCart logo, based on the bitmapped version that nbla000 did for the menu.

Original bitmap from menu:

and a Hi-Res verion - a quick render with some effects:

Note, the colours & effects might not be the same on the finished label. I tried to keep it looking the same as the bitmap, even where the perspective does not necessarily follow the laws of physics.

Well, I could do some variations. An all black one with the logo would be easy. But fringe variation designs would have to be printed by the user on his or her own printer, rather than mass produced.

Brian asked me something in private that might be worth to have a public poll about: how much amount of packaging and instructions people want and expect from the Mega-Cart. It could either be shipped in a rather non-descript packaging that won't impress more people than the true believers, or a little more time and thus money can be spent on a professional box, instructions and so on.

That is very good question.. Who read/need manual anyway.. But oufourse those would be nice. Wonder how big difference it makes to prize. Maybe there could be two versions.. Boxed and cart only. 8)

The PCB layout is done for the hole through design. I'm currently working on revision to use SMT chips and reduce the PCB size.

I will be away for xmas and "wrapping up" stuff (pun intended), at the office, is consuming much of my spare time.

I expect the SMT layout to be finalized before the end of this month. The size of PCB will influence possible case option and graphic size.

BTW, Brent has done an awesome job on the MegaCart logo. :D

NBLA000 has been working on PAL compability testing and fixing even more games so they work in PAL-land.

Likely in early Janury I will ask those who have expressed and interest for a deposit. This will help sort out the looky-loos from those that are sincerely interested in purchase of MegaCart.

If all goes well, we should be set to start shipoing MegaCart at end of January.

Sorry this is not available for under the tree this xmas.

I think that's a good idea. I don't want to sound like a meanie but my experience has been that you have to set a firm date by which deposits must be received and when the product is ready, set another date by which the balance must be paid. If a person doesn't pay their balance within n days they lose their deposit and the unit goes up the stragglers who always come along after the fact and want whatever device is being sold.

You might want to start taking deposits soon as this allow time for word to spread and people to check in etc. as well as giving you a more firm idea of how many boards you need to have made.

Perfect timing to chase away those winter blahs. :)
