I did wonder if it was that one. I must try to remember that one. Thanks for clearing that up.

I probably typed something like

LOAD "",2

...or something because I had been using the PET computer at school. Wasn't the datasette device 2 on the PET? Not sure if that worked on the VIC-20 though.

The first thing I typed in was more of a drawing. My uncle showed let how to make reverse bars and change colours on his (WOW!) C64.. Soon as my Vic 20 was powered up on Xmas day I was making reverse spaces and colours and trying to figure out why I couldn't get the same shades that the C64 could get with the Commodore key..

Load"Vic Panic" (Enter)

was probably my first typing on a Vic20

-Remember sitting one day, all day and typing in the whole of Killer Comet from the back of the Vic20 manual.

The first thing we typed in was the first program in the manual.
But later I got the Zap! Pow! Boom! type in game book and spent hours
typing in games like "Pole Position" and "Tail Gunner" with no way to save them before turning off the computer. It was at least a year before we got a Datasette. :)

SYS 1024

I was expecting the monitor to start, as it did on the PETs I'd been using to that point.

It seems like most of you knew a little about programming. All I knew came from the movie War Games (which I hadn't actually seen, just knew from commercial previews).

Neat!
That's a pretty good conversion. I've still got my copy with my commodore books. The dot matrix print took some getting used to.
