Super-impressive! Just the sound FX could be a little smoother at times.

Last post on Forum64 by peiselulli on this was on Apr, 21st, where he replied to the question whether there were any news with "Leider bisher noch nicht

", which means "unfortunately not yet". Hopefully they can work something out still.

I should be the last one complaining but I can't wait and I'm wondering what's taking so long.

Is the Author still unsure about what to do with subject port of the game? I understand he was unsure in 2021 but now is 2024. Do we have any news related to the project?
Game conversion looks really awesome and it would be great loss not to have it. I believe it is worth to have it in collection even if unfinished.

I got some news about this at the Nordlicht-demoparty though I don't think I'm allowed to share yet.
However, to my knowledge, the game was 100% finished back in 2021/2022 already. "Boulder Dash" is still an active IP and the rights have been transferred to german company BBG Entertainment in 2017. So just releasing this to the wild would cause big trouble to the programmer.

My bet is that it's on track to release – which would be next to free extra PR for BBG and the audience would be huge. The only thing I don't like about the demo is that the noise channel is like a razor blade to my hearing nerves. That being "fixed" would make the thing a 100% perfect. Still can't wait any way.

I'm waiting impatiently. Preview of the game looks really great and I'd like to have it on my VIC20.

I last spoke to Ulli about his version of Boulderdash at X24 he said he didn't release yet as there is a problem with the licencing. He sought permission to release for free, but the licence holder wanted 8 to 10 euros per download which of course made no sense. The next option was a physical boxed version. I didn't speak to him again since then. Maybe next update will be X26 ?

There is news about this. Svolli made the hardware and produced a total of 8 officially licensed and numbered Boulder Dash-cartridges for sale. The 10 EUR licensing fee are a fact and in my opinion seem ok-ish for a cartridge-release.
Mike and myself both got a cartridge for 60 EUR at the Revision-demoparty (arranged before the party). As I understand they are thinking about offering one (probably serial number #1) on EBay. They could not find anyone who would produce the cartridge in higher numbers. I would think maybe TFW8B would be a candidate for that, but I'm not sure what communication has or has not happened there.
peiselulli is on Forum64.de - so anyone could try to write him there if they SERIOUSLY want a cartridge, I guess.

I think many people would be prepared to pay 12 -15 euros to download an officially licensed version. I would.

The intention is to sell licenced versions and let the scene take care of the rest

Doing that would certainly be an excellent way to permanently ruin the chances of a continued cartridge production.
