@johncl: The palette-files by Mike were done some years ago by photographs of different displays, mine included. Since then I had both my PAL and NTSC VIC-20 modded to S-Video and recorded a video of each running Mike's colour test program with a DVD-recorder. You can find both videos here:

Maybe you would like to create palette-files based on a still-picture of each of these videos for PAL and NTSC. BTW: Both VIC-20 are of the later CR-model with the DIN-power plug. For the time being I think we won't get closer to the "original" signal of the VIC, unfiltered by either poor compositing of the chroma/luma or a poorly adjusted display.
