I didn't have too many games for the VIC when I was a kid ... that darn money thing and those cheap parents, lol.
I play Amok and Spiders of Mars because those are the games I had, but mostly its about revisiting some 30 year old programming projects. I'll admit I'm not using the actual hardware much because I'm spoiled by cross development, but I do own 2 real vics.
The vic sure was an approachable computer, I did a lot of programming back in the day because it was easy. I always thought the machine was underpowered and was jealous of the more powerful machines, but looking back I realize the machine encouraged me to do a lot on it, because it was simpler than its rivals.
What do you on your VIC?
What do I do? Live on my VIC! My passion for making tiny BASIC games is unending. It's just rare that I have time, but when I do... BAM! VIC game making heaven.

I am in LOVE with the Sega Saturn. It's second to the VIC, and it's the largest collection of games I have.English Invader wrote: Right now, I'm in Sega Saturn mode. Let me know when someone manages to port Metal Slug to the VIC.

I like the plop-plop-plop sounds in that game! Any pointers to how to make that sound on the VIC?Jeff-20 wrote:Military Madness / Nectaris for the VIC!!
My attempt-at-a-wargame is growing steadily, but I still fear points where I might have to abandon it because it may be over my head. So can't promise much yet.
At least the player can now move pieces around without running off the map, and no more than a set number of movement points per unit type.
Way back when, I had a rainbow VIC that I used as my backup machine when my C64 was fried (which seemed to happen alot, probably due to power supply issues). I'd mostly call BBSes and Diversi-dials on it.
These days, I am using my VIC much more than my C64, and I'm using it for games.. My favorites are Attack of the Mutant Camels and Bandits, though just about anything made by Sirius or Jeff Minter is awesome..

There's no shortage of VICs on eBay, but I guess shipping is the issue for you..?metalfoot76VIC wrote:Still stuck doing emulation VIC, but looking for a real VIC to complete my collection of usable C= 8-bits. Could buy one locally, but it's missing keys, not guaranteed to work, and has no power supply. Might as well keep scouring Craigslist, Kijiji and eBay.
