** Revision 2025 Invitation / Website

Post by Mike »

From April 18th to 21st 2025, Revision, the world's biggest pure Demoscene event, opens its doors at the E-Werk in Saarbrücken, Germany!

Since 2011, each year there were attending around 800 visitors from more than 30 countries. Main language is English, with people coming from Europe, overseas, and all over the world.

The party website is fully online now, so you can get a first impression of what to expect.

The party features several competition categories, of which some are also eligible for VIC-20 releases. The productions will be shown on a BIG screen, and are supported by a heavy sound system. :)

Between the competitions, enough opportunities to learn new things in seminars (like this one ;)), eat, drink, party, socialize and make new friends. And yes, there will be a bonfire!

At the time I write this, 127 people already have signed up. Tokra and me will also be there. If you're planning to show up at the place, register as visitor on the website and drop a short notice here, too! :D

Cheers,

Michael

We have several flavors of the invitation available for you to enjoy.
As I write this, there are currently 338 people signed up for Revision!

See you there. It's gonna be nuts. ;)

The party website has been updated with Ticket and Travel information, updated Competition rules are also online.

In the last years, entries for VIC-20 had been submitted in the Oldskool Demo, Oldskool 4K Intro and Oldskool Graphics competitions, also in the Game competition; standalone Oldskool Music entries had not been presented there thus far, any VIC-20 entry there would be a first. For any exotic extra Hardware used in tandem with a VIC-20, the Wild Compo would be a good home. So there's your opportunity to get your ideas and productions presented on bigscreen!

The Visitor List currently is at 394 people. Signing up there is optional. Tell your friends you're going to be on Revision (and leave a note here, too)!

If you're up for a Live-Coding competition, the Revision website has added info on these three events:
  • 3-way Shader Showdown (live presence)
  • TIC80 / ZX Spectrum jam session (live presence)
  • Shader Royale VJ session (remote participation)
Edit (2025-03-22): the preliminary event timetable also is online.

Current visitor count: 440 people. If you find someone in the list you want to meet or if you want to be there anyhow, you know what to do (and tell us here in Denial, too!).

As a final roundup:

from the "Who's here" page on Partynet, Revision 2025 had 878 official participants (i.e. people who paid for a ticket in whatever form), of whom 139 people were remote attendees (i.e. off-site and not organized in a satellite event), 49 people were satellite attendees (i.e. still off-site) and 690 people were on site in Saarbrücken at least for one day.

Likely, all people with remote or satellite tickets handed in at least one competition entry. Otherwise, the whole event was free to watch online (Satellites were allowed to ask for own entry fees to cover their expenses).

You'd be surprised. I'd count roughly half of them, which is probably still too much. There are quite some supporters who buy a remote ticket only to be able to vote (and to support the party of course)
I'm just a Software Guy who has no Idea how the Hardware works. Don't listen to me.

Those are of course another two good reasons to buy a ticket (regardless whether at site, remote or at a satellite). :)

The exact number of handed-in entries remains elusive though, even when summing up those in the file 'results.txt' - this would not account for those other entries that didn't get past preselection (which happens quite often in the music compos and also in the photo compo. For those who wonder about that - suchalike entries then count as 'non-released' and are allowed to be re-entered at another demoparty).

Relating the number of releases to the number of people who handed in a release is a bit hard to do - since one individual can be involved in many compos (and often enough the same compo, using different handles...)
I'm just a Software Guy who has no Idea how the Hardware works. Don't listen to me.
