A few caveats... the emulator is bugged if you try to play around in BASIC. Games seem to work though.
Joystick support is emulated and there are options to use different RAM configurations. It's not as complex as Matt Dawson's but it has all of the games under one website to play online. It also doesn't support D64 files.
It's just for fun!

That collection you present here 'features' lots of broken multi-parter games and cartridges. Scavenging files from the VIC-20 repositories at zimmers.net or other online sources and then having them thrown carelessly into a browser-based VIC-20 emulator just doesn't cut it.
You make it yourself too easy if you cast blame on the author of the emulator for some deficiencies in the emulation when in fact you are misusing the emulator in the way we can see here. Just imagine some interested person stumbling over your web page, trying to run the games and being greeted with a crash display most times, making the person wonder if that VIC-20 stuff is just crap - that is anything but a service to the VIC-20 community!
Sorry for my harsh words, but I think the VIC-20 deserves better than that.
(mod: thread moved from Games section to Emulation and Cross Development section, as it is unlikely to spark discussions about particular games)

The issue with the emulator is present in the author's own Github and happens when you type characters on the screen. It locks up and only outputs select characters.
As for the collection, maybe it doesn't 'cut it' for you, but I'm content with it.

You can only play single file games. Much better to look for single games, download them, maybe also have a look at the instructions, and get them to work in VICE or online emulators. I tried this myself and must say it doesn't give a good impression of the VIC-20 world IMHO. But as I always say, de gustibus non est disputandum.

In the context of your presentation, this is a minor issue compared to having a largely non-functional 'collection' of games.milasoft wrote:The issue with the emulator is present in the author's own Github and happens when you type characters on the screen. If you say so.As for the collection, maybe it doesn't 'cut it' for you, but I'm content with it.
I know you're a regular at Lemon64 and maybe should know better, but then so be it.

I didn't have that much luck getting it to work. I'd agree that it would be better as a curated list of "games that work despite the emulator being buggy" than "everything whether it works or not." It certainly would be more fun for me, since there are TONS of games on here that I've never heard of.

I've changed this a little... a different GUI and 1,000 or so titles which should all work. I'm hoping to have NTSC functionality soon, as it's currently only PAL.
