Re: Ultima III (work in progress) +35K

On Aleksi's website, it states: "Baskerville decompression on-the-fly is used instead of Exomizer (mostly for vanity reasons), and a tailored map compression algorithm reduces the loading and saving times of Sosaria." I actually used exomizer myself for my own game because Double Sided Gam...

Re: Prince of Persia

I guess I can do both. I will initialize it with the correct values depending whether it is PAL or NTSC (for NTSC, I'll use the values you mentioned in a previous post) but can also provide the option to center the screen by using cursor keys (that is already available, but only from the presentati...

Re: Prince of Persia

Thanks for that. As the game is using 27 columns, I was asuming it wouldn't look OK in NTSC and was initializing it just for PAL (my bad...). Good to see it might be also 'playable' (to some extent) in NTSC. Cheers No problem! Based on the photo I posted of your game being played on my TV, do you f...

Re: Prince of Persia

I just found out about this game on Youtube... thank you! WHAT AN AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT I was able to convert the screen centering to NTSC as follows: LOAD"LOADER.PRG",8 POKE 7169,0 POKE 7174,13 SAVE"@0:LOADER.PRG",8 While the the size of the screen is just a little bit too big for...

Re: Yoho - Scott Adams interpreter

Thanks to Ghislain, I have updated Yoho and Howay so that timers now work :) https://github.com/Kweepa/Yoho/blob/master/yoho.d64 https://github.com/Kweepa/Yoho/blob/master/howay.d64 You're welcome -- I am happy to help. As I wind down from games development on the VIC-20, I think I am ready to bein...

Re: Yoho - Scott Adams interpreter

I fixed the issue with this, finally. All counter-related operations need to be 16 bit, so I added a small 16 bit lookup table to convert the bytes stored in the instructions to shorts. But... I had to download cc65 again and Yoho doesn't compile with it any more :| Will try to find an old version ...

Re: Realms of Quest VI progress thread (currently in early planning stages, or I wish I had more free time)

At least from an ethical standpoint, it's better that I source images from an AI art generator than from scouring Google Images for perfect images to convert to the VIC-20 graphics format (as I did a lot in the previous game). But still, even though Midjourney helped a lot here for the following exa...

Re: Realms of Quest VI progress thread (currently in early planning stages, or I wish I had more free time)

I'm using an AI called Midjourney to generate some potential cover artwork (featuring Wandauvial). I know I'm putting a cart before the horse, but this technology generates high quality images in mere minutes. I wish I had this tool five years ago!

Re: Realms of Quest VI progress thread (currently in early planning stages, or I wish I had more free time)

That works out perfectly. I retire in 10 years and by then, I will have time to play it. :D :D :D I've a feeling that I won't be finished until I retire myself! For my part, I loved the solid systems and mechanics in ROQV, but ultimately I set it aside because the themes and creatures were too dark...

Realms of Quest VI progress thread (currently in early planning stages, or I wish I had more free time)

1.jpg (this is just a mockup) Dislcaimer : I haven't officially started working on this game yet. I'm mostly dabbling, working on a font (inspired from Diablo, but with some differences) and graphics. Regarding the graphics--I've decided that I want to go for a more authentic feeling where I will w...
