Moon - hex monitor
Moon is a minimalistic hex monitor for hacking/debugging/experimenting/fun: There's functions to view and edit memory in hex, save a memory block to disk, and that's all! Moon was inspired by Steve Wozniak's Woz Monitor, the 256-byte program in Apple 1 ROM, but is made for Commodore 8-bit computers ...

C-64 version of Ultima - Escape from Mount Dash
I did a little one-nighter and ported the ultra-rare VIC 20 title Escape from Mount Dash, the only Ultima branded game ever released on VIC 20, to Commodore 64. I'm using my VIC 20 sound emulation code from Victorian Era to play the sounds, so it's equally out-of-tune as on the original machine! The...

Re: Let's bring ELITE to the VIC-20
I don't think there's a big enough standard cartridge format, any non-standard banking would be out of question. Also, there's self-modifying code and small workspaces in middle of the code blocks, so it's not feasible to turn it into a ROM image just like that. It should be possible to put it on Pe...

Re: Let's bring ELITE to the VIC-20
But why does the version require so much memory? Shouldn't 27kByte be enough? Is there an overview of the memory usage? This is the rough memory map of VIC 20 Elite (9 Jan 2025 build): $0000-$0001 VIC 20 graphics routines pointer $0002-$00C2 Elite zeropage $00C3-$00D3 VIC 20 graphics routines zerop...

Re: Let's bring ELITE to the VIC-20
- do you plan on a disk-version with more features later on, like the BBC Master version? If you switch between station and spaceflight-modes how much space would this free up for more features like missions or more ships/stations? That's certainly possible, but there's no support for swapping code...

Re: Let's bring ELITE to the VIC-20
I was going to post about it, but Kweepa got first because I didn't want to post just a YouTube link to the demanding, more technically oriented audience here :) I'm away from my computer for 2 days - please don't tell anyone I'm sketching up pieces of the remaining dashboard code with the pen and p...

Re: Let's bring ELITE to the VIC-20
You maybe should check out the thread " Line drawing algorithm " started by MrSterlingBS. In that thread, I reduced the framework of Bitbreaker's resp. Hein's linedraw routine to use only one main core loop, with an insignificant change in the init part. I did read some of that, excellent...

Refurb Datasettes with LEDs and line input available
C2N Aquarius Mod by my friend Sami and his 78-yr. old dad: A Datassette modification that adds a line input and allows an external audio signal to be loaded into the C64 (or VIC 20) or recorded onto tape. The mod also features four LEDs for signal level and quick azimuth adjustment. Contact: sami.ka...
