Re: How load games from Gamebase20 to a real VIC-20?
Now I've tried some cartridge games. Some of them are positioned wrongly on the screen with the leftmost part outside of the visible screen. Is it possible to change that? I thought I could use the cursor keys but it has no effect. Also, I think there is something wrong with the Buck Rogers image be...

Re: How load games from Gamebase20 to a real VIC-20?
Thank you Mike! So, I think a key point in your answer to my question is that the address to load to is stored in the PRG files so I don't need to specify that explicitly. So, basically, if I want to load and run Buck Rogers, I assume that I could just give the following commands in direct mode, ass...

How load games from Gamebase20 to a real VIC-20?
Hi, I'm pretty new to the VIC-20 and I'm wondering how to load games from gamebase20_v03 to a real VIC-20... If a game has a000 in the file name, such as Galaxian-a000.prg, I guess it should be loaded to the cartridge area (a000), which must contain expansion RAM, but how do you do that in practise?...

Re: Reasons to get a Vic-20
I also started with a C64 and never had a VIC-20 back in the 80s. I bought a VIC-20 in recent years though (or actually two because the first one pretty quickly got some issues and I don't have knowledge or interest in fixing HW issues) and I think it was fun to play around with, to learn what capab...

Re: Poly 1 Computer
Seems like it was pretty common that countries developed computers for their schools. In Sweden, we used to have ABC80 and Compis for that purpose.

Re: Mega65
If enough of those people share the same dream, they could pool their money and offer it to someone who can programm Mega65 full-time. Somehow like a reverse kickstarter. I remember some years ago there was a project called "Commdore Bounty" that worked on a similar concept. As I remember...

Re: 1581 issues (split/OT from: Ultimem or Final Expansion?)
Well, the 1581 seems incompatible with the DIRECTORY command in BASIC V4, at least when I try that the directory listing usually stops at some random place. I'm having no problem with the DIRECTORY command with a 1541-II though, or if I do LOAD"$", 8 followed by LIST with a 1581. Well, I ...

1581 issues (split/OT from: Ultimem or Final Expansion?)
Hardly any VIC20 owners are going to have a 1581. People went beyond the VIC-20 at that time, with a C64, C128 and - possibly! - a 1581. As it happens, the 1581 *works* with their VIC-20, that people just might have kept. For whatever reason. It was, and still is, a working solution for big applica...

BASIC V4 MONITOR commands?
BASIC V4 has a primitive machine language monitor that you can start with the MONITOR command. Does anyone know the commands you can invoke in the monitor? I haven't been able to do anything except showing registers with R and quitting with X.
