Howdy. I'm Commodore Z, most folks call me Z.

I've been a vintage computer enthusiast for over half of my life now, starting with a C64. About a year or two after that, I picked up a VIC-20, and found it uniquely endearing. Since then, it's managed to earn its place as my favorite machine you would classify as vintage.

I've sought out a few variations of VICs over the past few years, and eventually ended up with 5 of them:

I usually spend me time playing around in BASIC, but I guess that seems to be a common thing for me to do on any of my vintage machines regardless of manufacturer. When I'm not doing that, I'm repairing my machines, trying out new software or peripherals, or just showing them off.

Glad to be here!

Welcome to Denial, Commodore Z!

Very nice collection of VIC-20s (the one in the middle looks very original :D )

Cheers

Hi all I`m Rich, I had a VIC20 when I was 12 back in the 80`s loved it. Then I got a TheVIC20 and TheC64 last year(Original VIC prices are to high for me) which took me back to my youth!!! Great to play the old games like Mega Vault and Pirates cove , the new games that people are making are just fantastic and pushing it to its limits! great work everyone. :D

@fraural and @Rich

Welcome aboard. This seems like the place to be for Vic-20 fans. I'm still new-ish here myself, but I've already learned a lot from browsing and interacting on these forums and I even went ahead and recently made a new-retro Vic-20 game.
Stick around, explore and enjoy. Cheers!

Hiya from Perth AU, I've just joined.
Got my first Vic20 back back in '81? '82? Loved it. As with many here, it kickstarted my love of programming.
Joined the local user group VIC-UPs, and that kickstarted my involvement in fandom :-)
We moved onto an australian system (Microbee CIAB running CP/M), and Dad sold the Vic. Been meaning to rectify that mistake for a while, and finally bought a Vic20 late last year.
Keys weren't working, and there was no video lead supplied. Wired up a video lead, was pleasantly suprised to see Composite available - why did we mess around with RF Modulators back in the day?
Just spent the weekend fixing the keyboard. Nothing more than graphite contacts needed cleaning, though I was wierded out by the 2ohm resistance between pads on the circuit board and each connector. Nothing but copper on the board, so where's the resistance? While I had the Vic open, I was surprised to see what I thought was non-standard configuration. I've since realised my Vic has an earlier PET style keyboard, and the function keys are hacked around the numeric keyboard slots :-)

I've also been messing around with VICE on Windows and Pi. Very impressed with the CBM prg Studio, and like it's simple VICE integration.

Because at that time, your average home CRT display (a.k.a. "TV set") likely was equipped with an aerial input only.

Welcome to Denial!

Hello,

My Name is Antonio from Murcia (Spain). I recently picked up again a VIC-20. I had a VIC-20 since I was 14, but unfortunately 25 years ago I threw it in the trash, because the PSU didn’t work. Now I picked up a VIC-20 (2 pin), older version that I previously owned, a Cassette deck, a Joystick, a VIC-1111 16k RAM expansion, and a Vic-1211A Super expander with 3k Ram. Also a tapuino (cassette emulator) and a RCA 2 HDMI converter. It’s awesome to see the VIC-20 screen on my 4k-32” monitor. I am planing to buy a SD2IEC drive/adapter or a Pi1541.

And I have just found this forum, looking for a VIC-20 Final Expansion.

I’m reminding myself how to deal with VIC-20, using the VIC emulator. And tinkering with my new toy

Regards
