Internal S-Video modification to original Vic20 - HOW TO

Post by leonk »

Please feel free to add this to the Wiki images and all. Hope this helps someone.

If you have the original VIC20 and want to do the internal S-Video modifications, here's how you do it. The same 5 PIN DIN to Sivideo/audio cable will work.

1) Remove components. Take a look at the first picture. You need to remove:
- the Ferrite Bead that connects pin 4 to pin 5 (it was located above Q7 in picture)
- the Ferrite Bead that pin 2 of the 6560 feeds into (has 2 components in its place in picture)
- the resistor to the right of it (no label in picture)
- the capacitor 2 spots to the left of it (C29 in picture)

- solder 0.1uF capacitor (I used 50V ceramic capacitor) to a 75ohm resistor
- solder that in the spot of the FB that fed from pin 2 of the 6560
- solder a wire from the new 75 ohm resistor to the input of pin 5 of the multiout (which was one of the spots the other FB was soldered) - see picture 2

Picture 3 shows the results.

Enjoy
