Denial on Tour

I shall be in Europe soon. I was wondering if any of our European Deniers could advise me on the scene there. Any tech or retro events I should know about? I am scheduled to be in parts of the UK, France, and Italy; however, I may go elsewhere if there are some interesting things going on between July and August. Would also love to say hello to my VIC family if possible. I am also open to any general vacation advice. It's been a while since.

If Canada would have been a part of your tour then I could have told you Percé is definitely one of the nicest places in Québec and one of the best places to scuba dive in eastern Canada.

I speak french but I have never been to France...

If you're in London at all, it would be great to finally try and meet you heh. As for events, you just missed Revival in Walsall, which probably would have been right up your street. This link has a few things going on here in July and August: https://blog.printsome.com/gaming-events-in-the-uk/

Yes! We keep missing each other in our travels. I also want to know if there are any good thrift stores for tech in London, Paris, Rome, etc.

Sadly most of the retro stores in London have either died out or gone online only.

There is the Nordlicht-demoparty in Bremen (northern Germany) from Jul, 19th to 21st:

https://nordlicht.demoparty.info/

about 100 people, oldskool and newskool. Oldskool seems strong with this one

And there is the Evoke-demoparty in Cologne from Aug, 16th to 18th:

https://2019.evoke.eu/

about 500 people (Germany's second largest demoparty), about 20% oldskool

I will be at both as usual

Plenty of independent record stores if you're into vinyl, though. High street retro hardware and games ended when CEX cornered the market and started asking £50 for consoles that would have gone for £20 a few years ago. One of the best things about buying records is that it's got me back on the high street instead of hanging around on eBay; with vinyl, it's the internet that sucks.

Hello,
if you travel to Italy, consider Bologna.

I don't have a users group in my town but I can provide some support for finding a location for a friendly meeting. Just PM me for phone/whatsapp contact.
