Adventure games for the VIC-20?

Post by WhiteWizard2.0 »

I'm new to this forum, so hi! My main interest in the VIC-20 is its adventure games, notably the Scott Adams series of cartridges from Adventure International via Commodore. But I am keen to discover any new adventures for the VIC-20 too!

LOOKING FOR NEW ADVENTURES

I am a writer/journalist and currently the Adventure Editor (White Wizard 2.0!) of the Zzap! 64 Annuals published by Fusion Retro. I'd be interested to hear of any adventure games published for the VIC-20 in recent years, as I'd love to help spread the word about them. You can find my Facebook page under Eight Bit Adventurer. I'm also on Twitter:

Hi and welcome!

I worked recently on a text adventure game called Two days to the race: http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bul ... =10&t=9252

There are two version for the VIC, one runs on the VIC-20+32K and features a 40 column screen, the other one just requires the 24K expansion and exploits the normal 22 column screen. Many other platforms are supported, by the way.

Your name is Emilia Vittorini, you're the daughter of Augusto Vittorini, who founded the Industria Torinese Automobili (ITA) with his brother Tullio. Your father is abroad trying to raise funds, but something went wrong and you heard your uncle coming back slamming the door. Your mission is to find what happened and how you can help your family. I will be your ears and eyes. Good luck.

I did a multiple-choice-adventure (similar to the "Black Mirror" episode "Bandersnatch", but text-only) earlier this year for the Global Game Jam:

You can play the full-game using a joystick only.

I also wrote an interpreter for all the Scott Adams games called Yoho.

I remember "Oldorf."

It was at least 24K. Also some kind of graphics enhancement was needed. It featured neat Hires-Pics (for the time...) but a *single* word parser, since that Graphic pack won't allow otherwise. Memories are bit hazy on that though.
