Post by dimebag »

Hello

i have ordered a Penultimate directly from thefuturwas8bits.com

i have received the cartridge two days ago, and it do not work at all.... tested on two working Vic, one was arrived from revision the same days !

the two button are only doing a reset, the memory count is still 3.5kb.

so i have send a mail to the seller, two days ago, no answer......

is Thefuturwas8bits is a serious stuff ??

i start to have doubt

Cheers

Did you contact them? Perhaps you just got a dud. It happens, I'm sure.

Do other cartridges work? Sometimes corrosion or dirt on the cartridge socket can make an unreliable contact.

Well, remember that these hobby projects are usually run by one person and not some large company. So "customer support" has to take a back seat to things like family duties, work, etc.

I'm not defending the guy, just saying. Two days may not be enough time. I would give him a few more days and make sure you have his email correct or the correct way to contact him.

Now, having said that, I've been reading things like this for a long time. Not just VIC-20 stuff, but lots of places. For example, I bought an SGM at AtariAge and paid a little more than $100 USD. Took almost a YEAR for me to get it. I expected 3-4 months but not a year.

Anyway, I understand your frustration. The makers/sellers do this for the passion. Not the profit. I do wish, however, that the ones selling >$50 devices would be more transparent and responsive at times. It's hard for me to shell out $100 for something and not get any feedback.

Hi

I have received my cart, repaired, seem the prom was fryed....

So , i plug it in my vic20, power up and, nothing.... start on a 3.5k config without any menu......

I have tryed it on 6 Vic20 !!!! nothing

Sent a mail to the seller (TFW8bits), and told me

"your Vic20 have fryed the cart again"

How can it be possible ? i use a 32K expansion without any trouble !!!

I have check my PSU voltages, it's ok, the internal voltage, and it's ok again

I do not understand.....

any idea ?

Cheers

If EPROMs are X-Rayed during shipment it can cause issues with them. But that is a long shot.
