Hi folks,
I inspired a good friend of mine to take his Pet 2001 out of storage and power it up. Much to his delight, it worked perfectly for long enough for him to start hacking on a BASIC program. However after a few minutes there was some ominous smoke and the loss of power. I am assuming it is probably one of the big capacitors in the PSU, but I am not that familiar with Pet 2001 (I did own one briefly 20 years ago, but I no longer have it.) Any opinions? I believe the Pet has is a linear power supply, so pretty simple to fix.

Hi Bobbi,
You should look over on the Vintage Computer Forum for help on this. There are a lot of people versed in PET repair there.
Actually, if I'm not mistaken, you've already posted there?
