Problems with a VIC-20

Post by orion70 »

Hello all, I'm dropping here a request of help from a new Italian member, who was writing in Italian here.
A rough translation of the problems encountered (some are not so clearly explained):
angelinotara wrote:Ciao a tutti!

Grazie,
Angelo
I have a working Vic. No screen problems connecting it to a TV set, but:
- Two different Datassettes are not working.
- Manosoft Princess works OK for PRG files, but no luck with TAP files.
- Also have one cartridge. Plugging it, it fires up, but hangs during the game.
- Tried to open up the Vic and clean it from dust, but no luck.
Can it be a problem on serial and/or datassette ports?
TIA
Angelo

Hi,

I would try checking the internal fuse, if it is blown the datasette won't work.
That would probably only be the problem on a newer Vic that uses a c64 type power supply though,
not the older ones like mine that has only 9-11v AC input.

If that isn't it try swapping the 6522's if possible, hopefully they are socketed on your board.
