Yeah, these are built all the time. A lot of these are the same old Hyperspin install on an old XP box, with the same old catalog of > 25k worth of software titles and associated eye candy. Ask the YouTube authors how many of those games did they actually play?

I prefer the homegrown cab and custom front-end running a select catalog, (yes I've done this myself), which includes the homebrews you won't find on the torrents. That's love you can't buy made for YouTube. :P

It's a great DIY project and you end up building something tangible. And as long as you have the space in your home for it. But the better problem to have is when a visitor comes over and makes you an offer to buy it on the spot.

This guy has a more bare metal solution but the trade-off is that he doesn't have as many games and I think it's limited to the old school stuff like Galaga and Pac-Man:

Yup, fairly common, I have one I built as well (see below). Depending on how far you want to go, it can either be something you just buy, build, or really go overboard with!
I have a custom front-end running on it I wrote in python.
