On the other hand we don't know if Chuck Peddle did all those things (in particular the last example you gave), or if it is Brian Bagnall who embellished the sparse facts to make it a rich story. Chronicle writers in the past liked to do so, and not necessarily stay entirely to the truth. While I haven't read his book, the quotes I've seen from it makes me consider him a chronicle writer. Too many small details that would be close to impossible to remember, too many tidbits and facts in modern time previously never mentioned or contradicting e.g. SWoC.

I agree with Carlsson. While the book is an enjoyable read, I think a lot of things were fudged to make it a more exciting story.

[SPOILER WARNING]

Just read the description of the C= plane going down when that cabin fire happened. The way he writes it is like a Tom Clancy novel. I find it unlikely he can describe the events in that detail only from 3rd party descriptions.
