No sound...(?)

Post by Muzz73 »

One of my VIC-20 motherboards does not put out any sound whatsoever. I switched it out for another motherboard that works perfectly with the same A/V cable and monitor, but I would like to get the other up and running (it's fully socketed) and use it, if possible.

Does it sound like my VIC chip might be problematic? I guess I could start doing the old switcheroo on them and see, but I thought I'd see if anyone had run into this before.

Thanks!
BCNU,
Louis

You should measure the audio-lines and connectors on the faulty board with a continuity tester at first.

Be careful with swapping the chip: Never test a working chip in a possibly non-working or damaged mainboard! Not that you have two non-working VICs afterwards ...

Best regards,
Dirk

OK, I will check that out... and will be very careful, because I want to end up with two working VIC's, not zero! :?
