Hi,
Since approximately 20 years I have my VIC 20 running a burglar alarm 24 hours a day.
The 6561 is measuring analog voltage most of that time. My problem is that the chip have stopped working a couple of time during the years. Can any one advice me where I can find a few video chip 6561 for PAL? If I understand it right both 6561E and 6561-101 will work.
I really appreciate any help.

The easiest and cheapest way is to get a new VIC 20. Individual chips are sometimes sold on eBay and such places but they are usually more expensive than a complete working VIC 20. Go figure.

Sorry for this late reply. Yes it is true. It have run all the time during around 20 years. It is mounted on a wall with the back side (connector side) up and I have also drilled a couple of ventilation holes in bottom and top.
What destroying my 6561 seams to be the thunder because I have long cables connected to the A/D converter. Now I am lucky to have a couple of 6561-chips, so now it runs again.
Best regards

It might be worth buying one of those 4 socket surge protectors £20-40 that have phone line and network line protection. You might not even need to modify it to run your signal wires through.
