Does anyone know if the Koala Pad has ever been used with the VIC? (Can it?) Has any software been developed to use the pad?

I have one in my possession and wondered it I should keep it for the VIC or pass it on to some C64 lover.

Regards,

Jonathan

I bought a koala pad new back in the day.
And at that time, I only had a vic-20 so yes, it does work with the vic.
I remember there was a rebate and it ended up being less than $10, this was back in 1981.

Dancing Bear cartridge uses the Koala pad, although I've never quite been able to get it working on real hardware. Dunno if it's a PAL/NTSC thing or an issue with my pad.

I've got Dancing Bear working with a Koala Pad just fine.

It should be easy to implement a Koala Pad into any VIC-20 software. It works just like two paddle controller inputs. One "paddle" input reads the X co-ordinate of the pad, the other is the Y co-ordiante.

Heh, I'd be interested in such a link, because everyone at the last SCCAN meeting told me not to open up a mint, still-covered-with-cellophane box of Dancing Bear for the VIC-20. I kept telling them, "But how can I look inside of the box and see how it is?" They kept telling me that if I open the box, I'd be sorry.

Don't decrease the value of it,

What's the point in having it if you're not going to open it and use it?

This cracks me up. The dilema of 'collecting for value' and enjoying it how you want to.

I still need a copy of Dancing Bear if anyone has information....

Cheers.

I open 'em... sometimes, I use an exacto knife if it's really really valuable, but I open 'em.

That's the spirit! It irks me when someone won't open and use a copy of a program because it's more valuable to collectors unopened, while there are other people out there who would love to get their hands on it so they could actually use and enjoy it.

i know many collectors. some will just use emulators to avoid any wear on the real items. of course, i think that's all silly. ir's sort of like wanting to go for joy ride on a summer night and choosing to play a computer driving simulator so you don't run up the miles on your real car.

Or do like I plan to do. Keep a mint, unopened one and get another one to use and enjoy.

Something I do with some of my other memorabilia,
