So you will have a very big ROM or Flash on it?fsporsche wrote:The Ultra Vic-20 Cart is being created by fsporsche(Fred Santos) It will have every program ever made for the Vic-20 with a plus feature of a SD/Card reader built in.
Or do you mean, "every program ever made" are on SD card, like my FE3 card?
While I appreciate and welcome any new stuff for the VIC: Why not consolidate all activities into ONE really great cartridge? I mean right now we have the choice of either a MegaCart or a FinalExpansion. Both have their advantages and drawbacks. I opted for a MegaCart in the end since it's available ready-built and the ease of use. Together with an SD2IEC external drive which I can also use for other Commodores this is all I need right now.
Having a third cartridge with its own advantages leads to a point where an enthusiast will have either all 3 and start switchting cartridges again (which defeats the whole point of getting a multi-cart in the first place) or having to opt for one and missing on the features of the other.

An enthusiast will buy a bigger desk and put up three Vic-20s. No need to switch cartridges...tokra wrote:Having a third cartridge with its own advantages leads to a point where an enthusiast will have either all 3 and start switchting cartridges again...

But honestly, what does "Ultra Cart" offer that you don't already get from Mega-Cart or FE3?
Buy the new Bug-Wizard, the first 100 bugs are free!

So, make a program before the release and it will be included!

PRG Starter - a VICE helper / Vic Software (Boray Gammon, SD2IEC music player, Vic Disk Menu, Tribbles, Mega Omega, How Many 8K etc.)

What would make it different or better than the FE3? Just put "every program ever made for the Vic-20" (how would you know you've found them all?) on the SD card - it hardly fills a 2GB card...
If you start selling readymade FE3:s that would probably be welcomed by those who aren't able to get one built.

I would be interested in purchasing it. Hey, if it is in production before July 23-24, 2011, it could be part of the presentations at CommVEx v7 2011.fsporsche wrote:Also looking at production run and would like to know who would be interested in purchasing this Ultra Vic-20 cart..

So it will be a thing between MegaCart and FE3?fsporsche wrote:... everygame on a huge rom chip ...
A MegaCart with SD support, - a FE3 with huge ROM?
Why a huge ROM? It makes no sense in combination with a SD card. A SD card will take much more data and programs as a huge ROM. And it is very very fast with SJLOAD support.
The reason why a huge rom is because people have been emailing me specifying to have a huge rom with all programs on it already just in case the SD card get corrupted or formatted also the SD card for future programs that will be released in the future. I will load all the programs on both. Its hard making everyone happy

I have a Mega-Cart, I have been thinking about getting an FE3 but as I'm in PAL-land I wonder if the built-in games will be PAL-friendly, where possible?
